Wanted: Civil Engineer

We are looking for a Civil Engineer or Engineer-In-Training to join our company on Vancouver Island. The role involves working with team members on a wide variety of municipal infrastructure projects in our local service area. We are looking for motivated and insightful people seeking new challenges on interesting and fulfilling projects, and who enjoy working in a collaborative environment with like‐minded people. The position would be suitable for either an Engineer-in-Training or a candidate that has recently become a Professional Engineer.

The Position:

The successful candidate will generally be responsible for engineering design, contract administration and project coordination tasks supporting the project manager.
Responsibilities include:

• Preparing feasibility studies and developing conceptual designs,
• Designing municipal infrastructure including water supply and distribution, storm and wastewater sewer systems, and streetscape improvements,
• Undertaking computer modelling of proposed infrastructure systems,
• Coordinating approval and permit applications,
• Preparing cost estimates, technical specifications, and construction documents,
• Providing contract administration and site inspection services during the construction phase.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate will be self‐motivated, demonstrate initiative, and work well in a team environment.
Preference will be given to those with the following:

• Degree in Civil Engineering,
• 2 to 5 years of progressive project experience,
• Registered, or eligible for registration, with EGBC,
• Experience with software such as Civil 3D, Infowater and XP‐SWMM would be an asset.

This is a salaried position with an anticipated starting base salary between $60,000 ‐ $80,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
